ABOUT

Congratulations! You’ve landed on my About page. I’m not sure how many people actually do.

[Insert professional looking photograph here. (note to self, get professional looking photograph taken.)]

But now that you’re here, let’s get started.

I write mystery/suspense novels for both adults and young adults. I also dabble in action adventure screenwriting (especially if it has anything to do with Egyptian archeology) and fantasy fanfiction (specifically for World of Warcraft).

I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a minor in Theatre Arts, and I highly suggest that all writers should take at least one course in Directing because it really teaches you about character motivation, dialogue subtext, raising the stakes, and describing your character through actions and mannerisms.

I also have an MFA in Creative Writing from one of the top-ranked low-residency programs in the country, where I concentrated in Writing For Young People.

Beyond that, I also studied screenwriting from UCLA Extension, I am a licensed secondary English teacher grades 8-12, and I’m a member of Sisters in Crime and NESCBWI.

Some of my favorites are:

Animals: big cats, camels, deer, foxes

Authors: Edgar Allan Poe, Elizabeth Peters, Lois Duncan

Books: The Woman in White, Twisted, the Amelia Peabody mysteries

Countries: England and Egypt

Food and Drink: Pizza (especially on eggplant with provolone cheese), mushroom risotto, anything Italian or Mexican, traditional English scones with raspberry jam, English Breakfast tea, Moscato, Pimm’s with ginger ale

Hobbies/Interests: ballet, belly dance, Greek mythology, not finishing DIY projects

Movies: The Big Sleep, The Mummy, and The Mummy Returns

Music: Flamenco/classical guitar, epic movie music

Video Games: Tomb Raider series, Nancy Drew Mysteries, Mystery Case Files (they are quite creepy), World of Warcraft

Word: “Mysterious” because it sounds both devious and delicious

I think that’s about it for now. I hope it was worth your while.
